Ο ηγέτης του εθνικιστικού κινήματος των Μπαλούχων [ή Βαλούχων], Μιρ Γιαρ Μπαλόχ, προχώρησε σε μια ιστορική διακήρυξη ανεξαρτησίας από το Πακιστάν, καθώς η καταστολή του κινήματός του εντείνεται και οι επιθέσεις του Στρατού Απελευθέρωσης των Μπαλούχων (BLA) κατά του πακιστανικού στρατού κλιμακώνονται.
Στις 14 Μαΐου, μέσω αναρτήσεων στον λογαριασμό του στο «Χ», ο Μιρ Γιαρ κήρυξε την ανεξαρτησία, υποστηρίζοντας ότι η διακήρυξη του 1947, μετά την αποχώρηση των Βρετανών, παραμένει έγκυρη.
Παράλληλα, απευθύνθηκε στην Ινδία, ζητώντας τη δημιουργία πρεσβείας των Μπαλούχων στο Νέο Δελχί, και στον ΟΗΕ, απαιτώντας την αποστολή ειρηνευτικών δυνάμεων και την αποχώρηση του πακιστανικού στρατού από το Μπαλουχιστάν.
Η διακήρυξη για τη δημιουργία μιας «Δημοκρατικής Δημοκρατίας του Μπαλουχιστάν» συνοδεύτηκε από τη δημοσίευση του «Χάρτη Απελευθέρωσης του Μπαλουχιστάν», ενός προτεινόμενου συντάγματος που οραματίζεται ένα κοσμικό κράτος με ίση συμμετοχή των γυναικών στην διακυβέρνηση, υποχρεωτική εκπαίδευση και ισότιμη πρόσβαση σε υγεία, εκπαίδευση και δημόσιες θέσεις εργασίας.
Ο Μιρ Γιαρ έχει επανειλημμένα ζητήσει την υποστήριξη της Ινδίας, εκφράζοντας ανοιχτά την πεποίθησή του ότι ο ινδικός στρατός μπορεί να συντρίψει το Πακιστάν σε περίπτωση σύγκρουσης.
Η κίνηση αυτή έρχεται σε μια περίοδο υψηλών εντάσεων μεταξύ Ινδίας και Πακιστάν, μετά την τρομοκρατική επίθεση της 22ας Απριλίου στο Παχαλγκάμ του κατεχόμενου Κασμίρ, όπου 26 Ινδοί τουρίστες έχασαν τη ζωή τους από οργάνωση που η Ινδία κατηγορεί το Πακιστάν ότι εξόπλισε και υποστήριξε.
Παράλληλα, ο BLA εντείνει τις επιθέσεις του κατά του πακιστανικού στρατού στο πλαίσιο της «Επιχείρησης Ηρώφ», με 78 επιθέσεις σε 58 τοποθεσίες στο Μπαλουχιστάν, σύμφωνα με αναφορές.
Στις 15 Μαΐου, το BLA δημοσίευσε βίντεο από επίθεση σε πακιστανικά στρατιωτικά οχήματα, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 9 Μαΐου.
Σε δελτίο Τύπου στις 11 Μαΐου, ο BLA κήρυξε μια «Νέα Τάξη», κατηγορώντας το Πακιστάν για υποστήριξη τρομοκρατικών ομάδων και πυρηνική αστάθεια, ενώ δήλωσε ότι θα συνδράμει την Ινδία επιτιθέμενος από τα δυτικά, με στόχο τη διάλυση του πακιστανικού κράτους.
Παράλληλα, απέρριψε τις κατηγορίες ότι λειτουργεί ως όργανο της Ινδίας.
Η δυναμική του κινήματος των Μπαλούχων φαίνεται να ενισχύεται, με τον πρώην πρωθυπουργό του Πακιστάν, Σαχίντ Χακάν Αμπάσι, να παραδέχεται στις 6 Μαΐου ότι η κυβέρνηση έχει χάσει τον έλεγχο του Μπαλουχιστάν.
Το αν η Ινδία ή ο ΟΗΕ θα ανταποκριθούν στις εκκλήσεις των Μπαλούχων παραμένει αβέβαιο, ωστόσο οι εξελίξεις αυτές αποτελούν κρίσιμο ορόσημο στον αγώνα τους για αυτοδιάθεση.

Το Μπαλουχιστάν, γνωστό επίσης ως Βελουχιστάν (σπανιότερα: Μπαλοχιστάν, Βαλουχιστάν) (Γη των Μπαλούχων) είναι μια άνυδρη, ερημική και ορεινή περιοχή στο ιρανικό υψίπεδο στη νοτιοδυτική Ασία, βορειοδυτικά του Ινδικού Ωκεανού, κοντά στον Περσικό Κόλπο.
Κυρίως περιλαμβάνει το νοτιοδυτικό Πακιστάν, το νοτιοανατολικό Ιράν και ένα μικρότερο τμήμα του νοτιοδυτικού Αφγανιστάν, στις επαρχίες Νιμρούζ, Χελμάντ και Κανταχάρ.
Το Μπαλουχιστάν συνορεύει με την περιοχή του Παστούν στα βόρεια, με τη Σιντ και το Παντζάμπ στα ανατολικά και το Ιράν στα δυτικά.
Στο νότο βρίσκεται η ακτή Μακράν, η Αραβική Θάλασσα και ο Κόλπος του Ομάν.
Το Μπαλουχιστάν πήρε το όνομά του από τις γηγενείς φυλές Μπαλούχων που αποτελούν την πλειοψηφία των κατοίκων της περιοχής.
Μιλούν τα Βαλουχικά ως μητρική τους γλώσσα, καθώς και Μπραχούι και Περσικά ως δεύτερες γλώσσες.
Κοινότητες των Παστούν, Μπραχούι και άλλων φυλών βρίσκονται επίσης στο Μπαλουχιστάν, αλλά αυτές οι κοινωνικές ομάδες μιλούν τη δική τους μητρική γλώσσα. Στα αρχαία και στα βυζαντινά χρόνια ήταν γνωστό ως Γεδρωσία.
Οι Μπαλούχοι είναι ιρανικής καταγωγής εθνότητα, και ζουν κυρίως στην περιοχή Βαλουχιστάν, που βρίσκεται στο ακρότατο νοτιοανατολικό τμήμα του ιρανικού υψιπέδου, καταλαμβάνοντας τμήμα του νοτιοδυτικού Πακιστάν, του νοτιοανατολικού Ιράν, και μικρότερο τμήμα του νοτιοδυτικού Αφγανιστάν, ενώ αριθμοί Βαλούχων κατοικούν και στην Αραβική Χερσόνησο και το Τουρκμενιστάν.
Ομιλούν κυρίως τη Βαλουχική γλώσσα (Μπαλόχι), κλάδο των Βορειοδυτικών Ιρανικών γλωσσών.
Περίπου το 50% του συνολικού πληθυσμού των Μπαλούχων ζει στην επαρχία Βαλουχιστάν του Πακιστάν, 40% αυτών στην επαρχία Σιντ του Πακιστάν, και ένας σημαντικός αριθμός στην επαρχία Παντζάμπ του Πακιστάν.
Αποτελούν περίπου το 3,6% του πληθυσμού του Πακιστάν, περίπου το 2% του Ιράν και περίπου το 2% του Αφγανιστάν.
Διαβιούν κυρίως σε ερημικές και ορεινές περιοχές. Είναι κυρίως σουνίτες μουσουλμάνοι, και χρησιμοποιούν τη γλώσσα Ούρντου ως λίνγκουα φράνκα για να επικοινωνούν με άλλες εθνότητες, όπως τους Παστούν (Pashtun) και Σίντι (Sindhis).

'Pakistan not in control'Meanwhile, Razzak Baloch, secretary general of the Baloch American Congress, has made an explosive claim that Pakistani authorities are no longer in control of vast swathes of the Baloch region."Pakistani forces cannot even leave Quetta after dark," Baloch told TAG TV. He pointed out that even elected Pakistani officials have admitted to this situation, noting the military avoids patrolling from 5 pm to 5 am due to security fears.
Razzak Baloch has said that Pakistan has lost control over 70–80 percent of the region.Razzak also urged global powers, especially India and the United States, to support the Baloch struggle."If India supports us, our doors will open,” he said. He warned that delays in support would only strengthen what he described as a “barbaric army,” affecting the region’s stability.Baloch ended with a stark warning, saying it would be wiser for the Pakistani army to withdraw with dignity rather than face a situation like Bangladesh, where only their boots were left behind. Mir Yar Baloch, a known writer and advocate for Baloch rights, issued the declaration through a series of posts on platform X. He urged the Indian government to allow a Baloch embassy in New Delhi and called on the United Nations to send peacekeeping forces to Balochistan while asking the Pakistani army to withdraw from the region. The announcement followed India’s Operation Sindoor on May 7, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).

He also made an appeal to the international community. "We also ask the United Nations to recognise the independence of the Democratic Republic of Balochistan and call a meeting of all UN members to lend your support for recognition."
"There must be a release of billions of funds for currency, and passport printing," he added.
Call for UN peacekeeping missionBaloch asked for immediate international action. "We urge the UN to immediately send its peace keeping missions in Balochistan and ask Pakistan's occupational army to vacate the territories, air space and sea of Balochistan and leave all the weapons, and property in Balochistan."
He added, "All non-Baloch personnel in the army, frontier corps, police, military intelligence, ISI, and civil administration must leave Balochistan immediately."
He mentioned plans to form a government in the region. "The control of Balochistan will soon be handed over to the new government of independent Balochistan state and a transitional conclusive interim government will soon be announced. Representation of Baloch women in the cabinet is the fulfilment of commitment to our nation."
"The state ceremony of the independence government of Balochistan will take place soon. We invite the head of the states of our friendly countries to witness the national parade and bless us," he said.
In another post, he wrote, "Hey Na-Pakistan. If you have an army, we Baloch have our army too. Baloch freedom fighters attack."
BLA claims attack on Pakistani military
A video has also surfaced online showing a utility vehicle carrying Pakistani military personnel being destroyed. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the blast and said 14 Pakistani soldiers were killed.
Free Balochistan Movement leader requests India to rename Jinnah’s House to ‘Balochistan House’Hyrbyair Marri, the London-based president of the Free Balochistan Movement, recently said that India should hand over Jinnah’s House in Mumbai to the Baloch people and rename it ‘Balochistan House’. He said this site, where Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah once planned India’s partition, should now be a place for Baloch leaders to plan their own independence. Marri also said that once Balochistan gains independence, Pakistan will no longer exist. In an article published by Balochwarna, he accused the United Nations of lacking neutrality, claiming it has ignored the Balochistan issue since 1947 while Pakistan continues to exploit it for political purposes.
